As a new government plan aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the UK to almost zero by 2050, a collaboration of schools across Cambridge came together for a Festival of Learning on 9 July to immerse students in the issues of sustainability and climate change and inspire young minds to develop an ambitious voice to change their future world.
The Stephen Perse Foundation (SPF), a family of schools educating girls and boys from nursery to sixth form in Saffron Walden and Cambridge, announce exceptional GCSE results. In the new examination marking system grade 9 is the top level of achievement. Stephen Perse students have achieved grade 9s in over 41% of the GCSEs they have taken, this compares to the national average of 4.5%.
In a year when the proportion of students achieving top grades at A Level is at its lowest
level for a decade, the Stephen Perse Foundation (SPF), a family of schools educating girls
and boys from nursery to sixth form in Saffron Walden and Cambridge, announce
outstanding results. Nearly two thirds of students have achieved three or more A* or A
grades at A-Level this year compared with the national results of just over a quarter (25.5%)
achieving an A grade or higher.
Last September, Stephen Perse Sixth Form introduced a new International Foundation Programme (IFP) to provide international students with fast track entry to top universities in the UK, Australia and Ireland. The one-year programme provides students who have completed secondary education in their home countries with specific tuition and guidance to prepare for higher education in the UK.
Years 1 and 2 visited the East Anglian Railway Museum in Wakes Colne, Essex.

Early on 17 June over 100 freshly washed and excited pupils piled onto the coaches which took us to the deepest, darkest part of Essex to camp out in the wild without the aid of duvets or WiFi. Students who take the International Baccalaureate (IB) at the Stephen Perse Foundation (SPF) have achieved a remarkable average score of 40 points (the maximum being 45) - placing the school in the top group of IB schools both in the UK and worldwide.
