Senior School Football Update

It was a term of mixed fortunes for our Senior School football teams. While there were moments of immense pride and achievement, there was also the bitter disappointment of narrow defeats. Our young players have shown incredible dedication and talent, and we are immensely proud of their efforts.

Under 14 Girls Football TeamThe Under 14 girls team suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the District Cup semi-final against St. Bede’s. Despite being on top for large parts of the game and having numerous chances, they were unable to avoid a narrow 2-1 loss. Congratulations to them for their superb season.

The under 14 boys football team lost an extremely close District Cup final to Trumpington Village College at Newmarket Town. After a close first half, the score was 1-0 to Trumpington at the break. They scored again against the run of play to make it 2-0 before Thibault B-S halved the deficit. Despite intense pressure in the second half, including hitting the bar with the last kick of the game, the boys were just unable to get back on level terms and force extra time. Whilst obviously disappointed, the team were a credit to the school for their performances and attitude throughout the cup run.Under 14 Boys Football Team

The under 12 girls became the first girls team to reach a District Cup final, which was a fantastic achievement considering the relative inexperience of the group. Several players put in outstanding performances in their first year of football, including Daphne B and Bronte M. Unfortunately, in the final, Impington were just too strong, resulting in a 3-0 defeat. The defence, led by Ellie G played superbly and the girls were pushing right to the end to try and get a goal back. The team were a pleasure to work with, and the progress they made throughout the season was phenomenal.
