Year 10 student Sophie tells us all about her archery success.
“During a weekend in June I went to an archery competition at Girton College. It was a two day competition with the second day being the County Championships and the first being a general competition. On the first day I did a qualifying WA720 at 60 metres (which is 12 dozen arrows at 60 metres) and ended up qualifying 4th.
The second day consisted of head to head, which is a one to one match. I beat my first competitor 6-0 and the second 6-2 and in the final I was put against a girl who normally beats me, but I won 6-2 and ended up winning. On the second day I shot a Metric III (which is 3 dozen at 50 metres, 3 dozen at 40 metres, 3 dozen at 30 metres and 3 dozen at 20 metres; so it was quite easy). I got a personal best and got the highest score out of all the recurves there and ended up getting the Junior Girl County Champion title.”
