The Year 5 students from Junior School Dame Bradbury's and Fitzwilliam Building recently had an exciting visit to the Senior School. The children were eager to explore the Senior School and its fantastic facilities, and they were not disappointed
During the visit, the students had the opportunity to experience a range of lessons, including Latin, Art & Design, Science and PE. In Latin, they learned new vocabulary and discovered interesting facts about the language's origins. In Art & Design, the children used paper collages and patterns to create beautiful pieces of art.
Science lessons involved investigating a 'crime scene' and using their problem-solving skills to solve the mystery of the missing donut - which turned out to be Mr West! The students had a great time working together, playing detective and using their investigative skills to solve the case.
In PE, the students had a choice of playing football or basketball in either the Sport England standard sports hall or Cambridge's first-ever rooftop MUGA. The children loved the opportunity to play sports in such amazing facilities and had a fantastic time.
The students were thrilled to share their experiences with Mr Ward, the Head Teacher, who was eager to hear about their adventures. After he spoke with the children, the alumni shared their experiences of leaving Junior School and moving to Senior School, reflecting on how their time at Dame Bradbury’s or Fitzwilliam Building had prepared them for their new challenges.
As the day came to a close, the Year 5 students left the Senior School feeling inspired and excited for their future learning journey. It was an eye-opening experience for the children to see what the next step in their educational journey could look like. Many of them were already looking forward to the possibility of attending the Senior School as a student in the future.
