Last week the Stephen Perse Foundation Development Department launched a Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal in conjunction with the British Red Cross.
The British Red Cross plays a vital role in emergency response, in times of crisis and they provide invaluable help to people in need. Red Cross teams have been supporting people in Ukraine for many years and 4,600 volunteers and staff are on the ground right now. The British Red Cross have highlighted that, while donating items such as clothes, food or medical supplies is kind and generous, items have to be sorted, cleaned and transported which can slow down their response. Therefore, cash donations are the most useful way to support the work of the Red Cross in Ukraine and neighbouring countries at this time.
We have created a platform via JustGiving for the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal and we have shared this with all members of our community: parents, staff, students, alumni, governors and partners. This provides a straightforward and reliable portal through which donations from among our community can be directed in support of a well-established aid agency. Please also feel able to share this link JustGiving widely amongst your friends, families and networks.
Thank you to everyone who has already donated, in less than a week our community has already raised an amazing £4,745. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress.
