For Remembrance Day, and as part of their ‘Sticks and Stones’ theme, Year 6 were asked to write a poem about what Remembrance or war means to them.
Mya has done a great job using descriptive language to put you in the shoes of the soldier.
War in the trenches take an an unexpected turn
Mud swishing around and water flooding your boots
As a bomb crashes from the sky the ground shakes to the very brim
And your life ends in the blink of an eye, and crack of a bone
Gas corrupts the air, you run in fright stuffing the masks in your face close to the night
As soon as you turn around in slight suspicion when the enemy shoots and kills your best man
The memories lie in depth of the ground and in in the sorrows of your mind
He who dies never ends; he will always be with you.
