On Friday 28 February, Year 4 visited the Museum of Computing in Cambridge.

The day was a busy and interesting one. The children took part in two workshop sessions and had a very informative guided tour through the history and development of computing and gaming. The workshops were very ‘hands on’ and allowed the children to learn new skills. Learning how to transmit and understand morse code was fascinating. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning how to use the Scratch coding language using Raspberry Pi and light boxes. One of the highlights of the day was having the freedom to explore and play on games consoles from the 1970s to the present day. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and this enrichment day really enhanced the first week of our new thematic learning topic ‘Smoke Signals to Smartphones.’
