Do you know what the UN sustainable development goals are?The UN is a world wide organisation made of 193 countries. The UN help our world to make it a better place.
The UN was established in 1945 after World War 2 ended to prevent any future conflicts. The members make decisions by voting and the 16 sustainable development goals were created by the members of the UN.The challenges are hoped to be achieved by 2030.
The SDG (sustainable development goals) are to help people act responsibly. The SDGs cover a lot of people’s current problems so they can live a peaceful and happy life.
The SDGs help people in poverty, the homeless, refugees, different genders and unequal societies. The SDGs are attempting to prevent climate change and unequalness.
The 16th goal is all about peace, justice and strong institution. Even though we are already in 2019 (almost 2020), we still have problems with gender equality meaning that perhaps only boys get to go to school or only men get to drive. Some leaders are choosing wrong decisions without realising what things they are doing wrong so goal 16 helps those who need help.
We have been learning about important conflicts so we can learn from the mistakes people have made in history. We also have been learning about the UN, the goals and World War 2 because the UN was created after WW2.
If you want to help you can help by: making your voice heard, participate in your country's decision, report violence if you see it happening, be passionate about your country's decision demonstrate a peaceful environment at home read, write or make something to stand up for peace or volunteer at a local anti-violence organisations.
