SPF Kindergarten children joined together for a very successful Forest School morning at Dame Bradbury’s on Monday 29 April.
The collaboration was led by our Forest School leader Mrs Solive and assisted by our EYFS Governor, Mrs Alison Powell. We started the session with a ‘real’ egg hunt, looking for a variety of duck, quail, chicken and goose eggs, before discussing which birds we thought laid which eggs - some great ideas were offered included robins, pigeons and crows!
During the morning’s outdoor activities, some children used a variety of different tools to make their own necklaces out of elder wood, some children used secateurs to cut the wood and then used a stick to push the centre out. Some children made nature crowns - collecting natural items to stick to their crown and others created their own mini-beast hunts, lifting the logs to see what they could find. The climbing tree and rope swing were favourite activities as always involving child initiated turn taking and problem solving. Levels of engagement were high, risks were considered and who would have thought there were 50 children all together thoroughly enjoying Forest School!
